Where did Ranch Dressing Come from
The first ranch dressing was created by Nebraska-born cowboy Steve Hensen in Alaska, where he worked as a chef and plumber for his coworkers. Then, on the real "Dude" Ranch in Hidden Valley that he and his wife owned in the 1950s, he polished it.
To help make ends meet on the ranch, he began selling the much-discussed dressing, which led to the sale of the first dry mix packets in shops. When it became popular, he sold the product and brand for $8 million in 1970. It had displaced Italian as the most popular outfit in America by the 1980s. You may now enjoy this classic dressing the way it was intended to be homemade.
